RSS feed now availible (really!)
Finally figured those out tonight...
RSS is a feature many websites now have. It gives you the ability to know if I've updated the blog with new posts or not, without actually having to go the the website and waiting for pictures to load.
If you're using MS Internet Explorer, I'm sure there are ways to use the orange icon on the right side of your screen (below the "A day in a life" link), but I don't know how it works. Perhaps someone out there who does know can help us out there in the comments.
This is real easy if you are using Firefox as a browser, as you'll have a little orange icon in your address bar you can click and subscribe.
If you're not using Firefox, you should consider it. It's a great browser with lots of neat little tricks you can use that are much better then Internet Explorer. It's also considered by most people safer and more secure. Go to getfirefox.com to find out more. Installation is quick and easy, and you can import your favorites from IE with ease.

Tuesday Merrill Blogging
Merrill has been in tough shape lately.
His ability to move about has been deteriorating steadily. He doesn't like to get up from bed, or if he's up, go back to bed. His right hand is becoming less and less useful. The only fingers he has success moving is his pointer and thumb, and makes eating difficult. His left is better, but is not used to using it to eat, though he has been trying that lately.
We now just get him out to eat two meals a day. I wish it was more, but to get him to agree to two is difficult enough. He still barely eats, sometimes only a few mouthfuls (after much arguing). It really tries our patience to deal with him sometimes.
He notices the new baby on occaision, repeatedly asks for her name. When we tell him he thinks we should call her Irene, Cecelia is too old of a name. He still likes to watch Maeve when he's up.
Lately again, the question comes to my mind, how long is he going to be with us. Janet and I have been putting together our financial plans, insurance, wills, and all of that, and that's the big mystery is his duration. I'll need to get a job at that point, and I wonder what I'll do, and if I'll make enough so we can get by here in Mound.
Sigh. We'll see soon enough I'm sure. Looking ahead to Wednesday pictures tommorrow!

Something I've been working on...
You have probably noticed those funny inserts of descriptors in the blog posts lately. We'll I've been trying to find a way we can catagorize our posts so if we are in search of a specific picture, it will be easier to find.
Tags are all the rage in blogging now, and they make sense. I can "tag" a post with any descriptive word I like. So if there is a picture of Maeve and I playing on the rocking horse, I can tag it with the words Maeve, GML4, Rockinghorse. So if I'm looking for that pic a month from now, I should be able to word search rockinghorse, and find that pic.
This will be much helpful as we post Cecelia's Wednesday pics here. I'll tag those posts with "Wednesday", so then a search of Wednesday will bring up those pictures.
I might at some point go back and tag the pics in the past. I know for a fact this won't work on some pics, and will take a long time... we'll see if I get around to it.
I'll be experimenting more with these as we go along. Your patience is appreciated.
Also, the blog has had problems lately. I think it's blogger, and I've been waiting for problems to develope, as there are many bloggers with lots of problems with it. I may try to find other blogging software to use eventually, but it probably won't be for a while.
Also I have had difficulty putting pictures up. So I found another free service to post pics. Flickr has worked well for the last couple days... we'll see how long this will be useful.

A breif explanation
Of Cecelia's name...
Cecelia is the name of Janet's Grandmother Denenny (whom Janet never knew I believe), though we changed her spelling from Cecilia. Cecelia is also the patron saint of music.
Irene was my Grandma Linkert's name, who died about 3 years ago. She's the one that inspired the cookbook I have blogged about in recent months, and a very important person in our family.
Janet intends to call her Celia (`See lee ah)... I'm not sure if I'll go with that. I might call her CIL (her initials, like window sill), Ceese (Cease) or Ce Ceese(`See Cease)... also kinda like Ceses (`See says) Ok now... my lips are getting tired.
We'll be going home tommorrow afternoon as long as everything is fine. We have receieved a lot of great notes of joy and appreciation, and thank everyone for sharing in our joy.

Side note... Deanna's middle name is also Irene.

We are pleased to announce the birth of....
Cecelia Irene LinkertBorn on March 8th, at 9:37PM.
9 lbs, 4 oz 22 inches long.
When we left home, Janet's contractions were about 2 minutes apart, and very intense, not giving her a break at all.
We got to the hospital about 9PM, and Janet couldn't even walk. We got her into a wheelchair, checked her into the birth center. The nurse took one look at her, announced her "complete" and pushed her bed down the delivery room. The moved Janet to another bed there. The doctor came in asking how far along Janet was in labor, the nurse said again she was complete, and asked Janet to push at her next contraction. When Janet pushed, the doctors and nurses practically claimed together that she was indeed "complete". Janet was told to to push again at the next contraction. Two contractions later, Cecelia entered the world. Janet and I were astonished how quickly it went!
Both Cecelia and Janet are doing very well. Cecelia seems to be nursing and sleeping well. We are all very happy!

Back home for a bit.
Here's how we spent the day. The doctor appointment this morning was fine, and encouraging (as you saw his post earlier) but didn't think we should head to the hospital yet. We went to Southdale, walked around for a couple hours, then went to a movie (called 8 below, Disney movie), and now home at about 7:30.
Janet has consistently had contractions every 10 minutes throughout the day, and they seem to be getting more intense. However when she calls the hospital, they suggest she wait until the contractions are 5 minutes apart. So we are back home to fee Merrill and let Janet try to sleep. Hopefully things will get moving soon.
We appreciate everyone's support and encouraging words. We'll keep you updated.
Janet's water broke as I typed this... we're heading into the hospital...

She's fine. But any day now... Cervix is 3cm. before membranes were striped, now it's 4cm. Looks like a good week to have a baby. DB

I feel bad...
My beautiful wife is expecting any day now... and she is SO ready to have this baby... and I can't help at all. Oh sure I try to do as much as I can around the house, and keep Maeve busy, and let Janet nap when she can, but I want to try to help get that baby out of her.
I've heard a good scare can sometimes start labor, but I'm unsure if Janet would appreciate me jumping out of corners yelling boo. I thought maybe if I pretended to cut a finger off might scare her, but I don't think she would like that either.
Anyone have suggestions out there about how I can get labor started?
