Hard workers

Geary and my dad working hard. Why am I the only one sweating?
We started the dining room and living room lights and outlets. Janet came out and checked our work. She was very please.
It was also fun trying to place our island in the kitchen and plan where the dining room table would go.
Tommorrow hopefully we'll finish the main floor, and put in bath fans.
Electrical work continues and meeting with others.
Got more of the electrical rough in done on the main floor today. Bathroom, and hallway. And started the dining and kitchen area as well. We may get the main floor finished this week!
I met a guy from the Terrazzo company today. He seemed confident that the terrazzo floor in the basement could be patched up, and cleaned up real nice. The nice thing is that we do this, and we won't have to worry about it again for a long, long time. I like that thinking!
Also met with the guy who will finally get this door finished...

And also frame in our fireplace and tub. Looking also to have someone come in soon to put in energy walls in our basement. It's all coming together nicely.

Progess continues with electrical, and here comes HVAC!

My uncle Geary started roughing in the outlets and such. Here's an upstairs outlet. We have the bedrooms on the main floor done, as well as the upstairs bedrooms and bath. Tommorrow we get recessed cans, and outdoor light fixtures.
Met the Heating and AC guy today. It's always fun to watch a professional at his/her job. He was very quick about showing were vents were going, and where to run the cold air returns. He was very consise to tell me what he needed.
I think Janet and I have finally settled on what we need for our plumber. Since tiling the floor of the shower isn't a job for a novice, we settled on getting an insert for the shower. Now the plumber can order it, and hopefully get him here ASAP. We now bear down on picking out our kitchen cabinets!!
By the way, I'm looking for a carpenter to put up some walls in the basement for me. If anyone is interested in a side job, or might know someone, let me know.

Electrical work continues
Geary, and my dad came out today, and we started roughing in outlets and switches. Running wire, and drilling holes was my responsibility. We got the two bedrooms on the mainfloor done, and ran some mains upstairs. After they left, I shoveled up the big room downstairs, where the terrazzo is. We have the terrazzo guy coming out next week and advising us what to do.
Unfortunately HVAC didn't get out there today... Roofers are ready to go Friday though. Very exciting!
I forgot the camera today... so no more pictures til next week (we have a wedding to go to Friday, and are camping Sat. night)

Electricity and a door!
I forgot to take pics today, but the door in the back of the garage has been cut, and we have temporary power now, thanks to my uncle. I met the framers out there for some last few items. Heating and AC guys are starting tommorrow, roofers Friday, and the plumber will be out there next week (hopefully!).
Spent the majority of our time the last weeks trying to pick out sink and shower facets, and how to do the tubs. We spent a good amount of time at home depot looking at kitchen and bath cabinet. We like the IKEA kitchen cabs, and found some acceptable bath cabinets at Home Depot. We also found a good deal on flooring for our living room that we snatched up. 65 cases of laminte flooring... that's going to take a couple trips.
Janet really wants to tile the shower upstairs. Hopefully with the help of her friend Gail, they can do that. She believes she would like to tile the floor of the shower, but everyone I talk to about this comments about that it's more work. Does anyone out there have an opinion about tiling showers, and whether to tile the floor of the shower?
Glad people are enjoying this blog. We appreciate our family and friend's support.

The landing that leads from the mudroom, to the terrazzo, or down to the mechanical. See that Maeve is holding the camera case for me? That because last time we were here, I dropped the camera bag somewhere and forgot about it. Maeve won't do that.

They are finishing up the landing here... I thought they were going to cut the door to the garage here, but that hasn't happened yet.

The hard part today was getting those patio windows up there. At least that's what I thought until I saw the tracks of the lift (a tractor like vehicle to help the framers on the high ends of the house) going up my neighbors ramp... something he was not supposed to do. Boy am I going to hear it from her tommorrow. Sigh.

Ella (my niece) and Grandpa Linkert came and checked out the view. My mom, sister, brother in law, and other niece, Avae came out as well.

Here they are putting our future mudroom in. You'll soon see a door to the garage where the shirtless guy stands.

They put the attic truss's on Monday, and started the flooring the stairs Tuesday... I'm starting to have to back up further and further for this shot!

We then had the exciting time of damp proofing. Two days of dealing with a thick tar substance. Janet was happy to earn some sweat equity though!

Here's where you can see they blended the old foundation with the new. The old is on the right... the new is on top, and to the left.

Then they dug trenches for the new footings.... This was where the terrazza stairs used to be, and where our new entrance to the main floor will go.

Looking to start blogging about our home in Mound... here's a pic from last summer, before we tore it down...
